Ingredients

  • 150 g Digestive Biscuits
  • 50 g Butter
  • 250 g Readymade Dulce De Leche
  • 3 Bananas
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 150 ml Readymade Whipped Cream
  • 30 g Dried Banana Chips, optional
  • 1 tbsp Grated Chocolate, optional

Instructions

  • Crush the digestive biscuits until they become fine crumbs. You can use a food processor or a sealed bag and a rolling pin.
  • Melt the butter, either in a microwave or on the stovetop, until it's fully liquid.
  • Mix the melted butter into the crushed biscuits, ensuring that all the crumbs are evenly coated.
  • Take your serving dishes and press the biscuit mixture firmly into the bottom to create a solid base. You can use small dessert glasses or individual serving cups.
  • Divide the Dulce de Leche in between the 4 servings and spoon onto the biscuit base. This forms the rich caramel layer.
  • Slice the bananas into rounds. If preparing in advance, consider tossing the banana slices in lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Carefully arrange half of the banana slices on top of the caramel layer in each dessert dish.
  • Place the dessert dishes in the refrigerator and allow them to chill. Chilling helps set the layers and enhances the overall texture and taste.
  • Just before serving, add a generous dollop of whipped cream on top of each Banoffee Cup.
  • For an appealing finishing touch, decorate with crushed dried banana chips and a sprinkle of grated chocolate. These toppings add a delightful crunch and extra flavour.

Recipe Notes

  • The lemon juice helps to prevent the banana from turning brown.
  • You can substitute digestive biscuits for graham crackers
  • Any cream that can be whipped, can be used for the topping. Just be sure to whip it until it forms stiff peaks.
  • Don't add the cream until just before, serving as it will flatten the longer it is left.
